*HIV/AIDS is the number #1 killer of African-Americans between the ages of 25-44. *HIV/AIDS is occurring fastest among persons younger than 25 years old. In 1992, heterosexual transmission became the leading cause of HIV infection in women and more so in African-American women who accounted for 57%. Next to African-American women are children, teens and senior citizens. HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, has created so many challenges for those infected and affected. HIV affects men, women, boys and girls of all ages, colors and creeds. 1 Corinthians 12:26 says, If one member suffers, all suffer together.” Matthew 25:35-36, 45 says, Feed, give water, clothe, visit, for when you don’t you refuse to help me! (Paraphrased words of Jesus, the Christ)
Alpha and Omega HIV/AIDS Foundation and Health Initiatives International, Inc. is a faith-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing assistance to infected individuals and affected families, care givers and communities who have been impacted by AIDS. The goal of the Foundation is to provide understanding, care, compassion, and concern to persons who have been infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. Our focus is on testing, treatment, adherence, and advocacy. Our mission is to increase knowledge, awareness, and understanding of HIV/AIDS through provision of comprehensive educational offerings throughout the community and the church.
